BRAND OVERVIEW
Bender’s Pub Grub is an award-winning eatery located in Alexandria, Kentucky. Partnered with Alexandria Brewing Company, their menu is inspired by the tastes of southern comfort food. Drawing inspiration from foods of the Appalachians, the Low Country, Southern pit BBQ, Cajun, Spanish, French, and Native American influences, Bender’s believes Southern food is diverse and complex, yet approachable. From local, artisanal bread to house-made bacon and original sauces, Benders’ menu offers something for everyone. Each of their menu options also pairs perfectly with an Alexandria Brewing Company beer or cocktail.

This was an independent freelance project where I was solely responsible for the entire end-to-end design process.
STRATEGY
Develop the visual brand identity of Bender’s Pub Grub to reflect their passion and dedication to house-made southern comfort cuisine.
DELIVERABLES
LOGO AND COLLATERAL DESIGN
The Bender’s Pub Grub logo was inspired by their head chef, Shawn Weinbender. With Shawn being the face of Bender’s brand, the logo features his distinctive mohawk and mustache on the face of a skull. The logo’s hardened and rustic aesthetic compliments the branding of their partnered brewery, Alexandria Brewing Company. Bender’s visual identity is communicated across digital and print marketing collateral through the use of warm, earthy colors and textures to reflect the theme of made-from-scratch southern comfort food.
WEBSITE DESIGN
The user flow of the brand’s website is inspired by their menu. Users are enticed by the appetizing food photography and rustic color palette incorporated into the site’s interface design, encouraging them to explore the dining experience that Bender’s Pub Grub has to offer.
